Applications for Investment by Kría – Icelandic Venture Initiative
With reference to Act No 65/2020 on Kría – Icelandic Venture Initiative, Regulation No 255/2021 and rules of procedure established by the management board, we hereby welcome applications from venture capital funds (VCs) for investment by Kría – Icelandic Venture Initiative.
Kría – Icelandic Venture Initiative is authorised to invest in specialized VCs whose purpose is to invest in innovation and start-up companies and who satisfy the conditions laid down in the provisions and rules of the fund. Further information on these conditions can be found in Article 5 of Regulation No 255/2021 on Kría – Icelandic Venture Initiative.
The total amount available for investment by Kría – Icelandic Venture Initiative in the current application period is ISK 2.24 billion. Kría’s share value within each fund cannot exceed 30% of the aggregated capital contributions and the existing uncalled committed capital of the fund concerned. Kría’s investment in a single VC fund cannot exceed ISK 2 billion.

Kría – Icelandic Venture Initiative is an independent fund owned by the Icelandic state and under the aegis of the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Innovation. The role of Kría is to promote the development and advancement of innovation and start-up companies in Icelandc by investing in specialized venture capital funds, which in turn invest in innovative start-up companies.
The application period is from October 6, 2021 to November 3, 2021.
